Plagiarism

Plagiarism is a serious academic offense and can result in you getting no grade, or further academic disciplinary measures. Plagiarism is defined as using someone else's academic work without acknowledging it. Failure to acknowledge sources properly can result in an accusation of plagiarism.

How to Avoid Plagiarism is an online tutotial aimed at all students and describes what plagiarism is and how to avoid to it. Students are also introduced to plagiarism detection software.

Citation

Once you put your research on paper you must cite the sources of information: Books, Journals, Videos, Newspapers, E-Journals, Websites etc, that you have consulted during the course of your research. Citing your sources is an essential part of any research, and has a direct bearing on your final marks. It is essential to get this right, and to use the citation style that your lecturer recommends.

How to Reference your Sources is an online tutorial aimed at all students, and explains the importance of referencing information sources. At the end of this tutorial students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of citing and referencing sources correctly using the Harvard referencing style.

Endnote

There are different softwares available to aid the storage and management of references.
My End Note Basic is available through the library. This service should help you keep tabs on your reading and your references and with the Cite while you write technology you can write in word and import properly formatted references into your document as you go.
